Judy & Elizabeth Linde
Judy was a barber in Yates Center from
1924 until
his retirement in 1989. Elizabeth served as Clerk
of the Woodson County Draft Board from
1942 until her retirement in 1970.
Judy was the son of a Swedish immigrant who came to
America
in 1889. His father, George Fredrick, was born in Sweden in 1868.
His sir name was Palmgren, however, being drafted at the age of 18,
he was given the five letter name of Linde to simplify paper work,
while serving. After his release he was given the choice of changing
his name back to Palmgren or retaining the name Linde.
The rest is history.
Elizabeth is the Granddaughter of Alexander Hamilton and
his wife Lucinda Jane Scott Hamilton.
Alexander was the sun of a wealthy Plantation owner from Kentucky
his wife Lucinda, the daughter of a Union General. John B. Scott.
Alexander and John served the Bogus Legislature of Kansas
in the Year 1858.
